The innovative RF POWER SWITCH from HUBER+SUHNER sets new standards and is the simpliest solution for switching between two RF channels. The RF POWER SWITCH family is a new product group designed for applications in mobile radio base stations. Thanks to the Plug and Play concept, switching is done automatically as soon as the mating connector is plugged in. RF POWER SWITCH connectors are used for combining two transmit signals (TX) to increase the coverage of the mobile radio base station. In addition, they simplify the installation of modules and the cabling of base stations. The RF POWER SWITCH replaces electronically controlled RF relays and allows simplified PCB layouts with a more compact design. This ultimately produces appreciable cost reductions.

Modular product portfolio

The RF POWER SWITCH family is based on a modular design and consists of a mechanical switch and a selectable interface. The RF POWER SWITCH family is available with QN, QMA, N, TNC or SMA interfaces. A conducting sealing compound allows the RF POWER SWITCH to be electrically shielded on its semi-circular connector housing. The new products are available as right and left pin variant. In addition to the PCB switches the new RF POWER SWITCH Adaptor has been developed.
Threaded and snap-type interfaces can be designed upon customer request.

Modularity opens new areas of application

The use of the mechanical switch in the RF Power Switch is not limited on applications already realized. The modular building method opens an impressing potential for customized applications. Based on the design of the PCB version of the RF Power Switch the development continues, toward the RF Power Switch Adapter. Beside different interfaces different mounting options are possible, which are aligned to customized requirements. The RF Power Switch Adapter can be manufactured with different switching interface and different coaxial ports. For the switching interface the connector interfaces QN, QMA, TNC, N and SMA are available. For the coaxial ports the interfaces QN, QMA, TNC, SMA and MCX are available.
The flexible flange concept allows to choose from a standard bulkhead flange, a four hole flange or a customer specific version. The bulkhead flange concept is designed to fulfil water tightness requirement according to IP 67 in mated condition.
